What the Assembly was about
Delegates looked at Europe’s most advanced water-management systems and at the interaction between engineering, construction economics and flood-protection policy.
The theme
“The Cost of Water” put flood protection at the centre of the conference — how engineering decisions on water infrastructure translate into long-term public cost.
On site
A site visit to the Maeslantkering storm surge barrier — one of the largest moving structures on earth — showed the scale of cost and engineering behind large public infrastructure.
